Tribute form[]

Name: Scylla Wells

Scylla Wells

District: 4

NewScyllaRL

Gender: Female

Age: 13

Personality: Scylla is, to say in the least, a conniving little vixen. She will do whatever it takes to get her own way in any situation, even if her ideas are against Charybdis's. Whenever things don't go according to plan, she will act nonchalant about it. However, deep down, a thirst for revenge fills her veins. When it comes to meeting Scylla, you have to hope that you enter her good books, which in itself is difficult. If anybody gets on her bad side, then she will drop secret hints that she's plotting something. Usually, she will prank whoever she has her sights set squarely on, showing her mischievous and fun side. It's when that line is crossed that her target should watch their backs. She will go stealing mainly, but she will only go as far as vandalism. Even she knows better than to go on a killing spree.

Height: 5,3

Weight: 115 Ibs (Healthy)

Appearance: Scylla has medium-tone spiked brown hair, with a fringe that is swept to one side. She also has green-blue eyes and lightly tanned skin.

Weapon(s): Trident, spear

Strengths: Scylla's high levels of ruthlessness makes her a formidable foe, and not an easy target to prey on. Especially when combined with her quick agility. But she's mainly a mighty foe underwater. It is her ideal place of battle. There, she can unleash a flurry of attacks.

Weaknesses: Scylla has had to contend with pretending not to care that Charybdis was no longer with her. However, she can't bottle it up forever. It is highly likely that she will go deeply insane if Charybdis dies or can't stop thinking about her. It can be deadly to herself, as well as the other tributes. She is also bad at climbing, since she prefers the seaside over the woodlands. Finally, her lust for revenge, if encountered, means that she go to any lengths to get her own back. Even if the incident was all a harmless affair.

Fears: She fears losing Charybdis. She also has an odd fear of rainbows (XD), since they make her think of moments where there's happiness when there shouldn't be.

Training strategy: Show the other tributes that she is NOT a force to be reckoned with. She will show off all of her power.

Private Training Strategy: Scylla will try to go for a high score. To start off with, she will spear a dummy maliciously with a trident. Then she will mutilate another dummy with an evil look on her face. To top it off, she will throw a third dummy underwater and fake a battle with it. Then at the end, she will make a mischievous giggling sound and skip out with a light expression on her face.

Interview angle: She will act as bloodthirsty and mischievous as possible. If there is a chance to act sarcastically, then she will gladly take it. At some point, she will probably insult the careers or crack jokes about them.

Bloodbath strategy: Grab a weapon, and chase after somebody who she despises. And then kill them.

Games Strategy: Scylla and Charybdis will go tribute hunting, picking off the weaker tributes from their alliances before luring them somewhere else. They will try to find a water source to use, so that Charybdis can chase a tribute into one whilst Scylla hides under the surface and surprise attacks them.

Alliance: She will ally with her twin. However if they're not entered into a games together, then she will enter the games as a loner.

Token: A ring that stores a tiny photo of Charybdis

Backstory[]

Scylla and her twin sister, Charybdis, were born to Marin and Clutch Wells in district 4. Their life when they were young was relatively normal and happy. Yet little did either of them realize that soon, this humble life would soon be turned upside-down. But that doesn't happen for a while yet.

They were both basically like any siblings - One moment, they were happily laughing with one another. The next, there would be a miniature sibling war, like when they were debating who would volunteer first for the games. Either way though, the two were as close as two peas in a pod. Was anything to separate them, then there would certainly be hell to pay. And their idea of it was certainly not favourable for most people.

Everything changed when Scylla and Charybdis were both 9. After the previous mayor of district 7, Justin Fox, was assassinated, Clutch was offered the position, which he gladly obliged to. He told Marin that they had to move to that district, or at least somewhere close to it, but she was having none of it. She had her reasons to stay, so Clutch had to choose between his family and power. In the end, a massive argument heated up, and Clutch divorced Marin, and moved to district 7 with custody of Charybdis. Marin was stuck with Scylla, who wasn't happy at the prospect of not being able to see her twin again.

At home that day, Scylla kept staring through all the scrapbooks, reminiscing all of her memories with Charybdis. She remembered the highs and the lows of their friendship, how the two constantly got up to mischief, and most of all, how deeply bonded the two were. All that would now be lost in the real world, but never forgotten in mind and soul.

‘Charybdis, I’ll vow to forever think of you on a day to day basis. Remember to do the same for me...’ She thought, looking out of her window. Despite the brightness of the sun beaming down on her happily, it only made her feel worse. How could everything seems so positive, when she had just lost her sister? She wished that everything could be stormy and rainy, to perfectly match the mood. Something inside of her snapped. Hell hath no fury like a woman scored. That saying could describe her at the moment perfectly. Because not only did she lost her sister, she’s lost some of her sanity as well. She felt like nobody should shred her heart into a thousand pieces any further. And if they did, they would suffer her wrath. And it was one that should never be unleashed upon anybody.

The next day, Marin detected the sadness that Scylla was put under. She decided to treat Scylla to her favourite food: Fugu. Aka: Pufferfish. Scylla loved the dish when she was little, especially when it was served as sushi. Usually, it cheered her up in the past whenever she felt negative. There was one little risk though: If it couldn’t lighten her spirits, then Charybdis was the last solution. Unfortunately, she was no longer in D4. It would be no big loss if it failed. Little did she realize that this would make another big change in Scylla’s life.

Marin called for Scylla to join her downstairs, as there would be a special surprise for her. Scylla, who still felt lost without Charybdis, begun to ponder whether or not she should go. Sure, it would take her mind off of her current situation, but she wasn’t in the ideal mood. It felt as if Marin wanted Scylla to let go of the past. Therefore, she was basically saying ‘So your sister is gone. You can live without her – Get over it!’ Scylla wracked her brains in her balanced judgement. Both held positives and negatives, but which one would be better? The choice was quite tough for her, but in the end, she decided to see what the surprise was.

Scylla was blindfolded, so that she wouldn’t be able to see what the surprise was. It frustrated her a little; nonetheless she went along with Marin’s instructions. She was guided to a car by Marin, and then had her seatbelt tucked in. And then it was time for them to depart their home.

Once the two arrived, Marin took the blindfold off Scylla, and gave her a light kiss on the forehead. She then proceeded to help her out of the car, revealing Sochi’s Sushi Bar. It was considered to be one of the best sushi bars in Panem, and one of the best in the world at that. The prices were always fair, and the fish and other sea critters were always of the best eminence. There were only two kinds of people who could disregard the sushi: Those who were fussy about the tiniest little things, and those who suffered from allergies to sea-food.

“Surprise!” For a moment, a petite smile played on Scylla’s lips. The scent of fish caused her belly to gurgle with delight. But all this only reminded her of Charybdis – She would’ve loved the seafood just as much as her. In the blink of an eye, her grin was replaced by a deeply saddened frown. This prompted for Marin to give her a sympathetic look, before the two entered the sushi bar.

Sochi’s sushi bar was bustling with activity and customers, the majority of them being happy families. Scylla look in disgust as she saw a pair of sisters sharing twenty rolls of sushi together. ‘If only if that was me and Charybdis’ she thought to herself, feeling envious of the happy vibe inside. To her, it felt like everybody else’s kismet was to have a better life than hers. That she should be the one made to suffer all the bad ailments that resided on the planet. This, of course, wasn’t the case. It was just that Scylla was still crushed and wanted somebody else to blame, other than Clutch.

“May I help you, ladies?” The waiter asked, his posture being as straight as a ruler.

“Yes, we would like- wait…” Marin begun to closely observe the waiter, particularly his peculiar topaz eyes. “Are you… Tetro Donerdie?” The man widened his eyes in great surprise.

“Marin! Do my eyes deceive me?” The two of them stared into each other’s eyes for a moment, before laughing.

“How long has it been?!”

“Too long, my good friend!” The majority of the staff and customers threw a quick glance in the direction of the sound of happiness. The anger deepened inside of Scylla, since this was supposed to be HER surprise, not mum’s. Discreetly, she glared at Tetro.

“And who is this ravishing daughter of yours?” He asked, ruffling Scylla’s hair.

“She’s Scylla.” Marin replied. “She hasn’t been in the best of moods, ever since her jerk of a father abandoned us to become the mayor of district 7. He took her twin, Charybdis, with her.”

“Well, I’m sorry to hear that… Now that that’s out of the way, what can I get you?”

“Two plates of the fugu sushi please. And your phone number.” She said, with a wink.

Despite the enjoyment of her fugu sushi, Scylla still felt glum and depressed. Even Marin, who had tried to help her feel better, was being reunited with her old friends. She couldn’t help but think ‘If only that was me and Charybdis, laughing and chatting away. But oh no, I never get what I want! Mother nature holds a stupid grudge against me!’ To take her mind off of this, she enrolled into a junior career academy without Marin’s permission.

The law stated that junior careers had to be aged at either 10 or 11. However, Scylla chose to disobey the rules, since she believed that she was tough enough to learn to handle whatever harsh situations would be thrown at her.

On her first day there, September 6th, Scylla stood in line with the new 10 and 11 year olds. By the looks of things, she was the only 9 year old. Well, except for a beautiful dirty blonde-haired girl with teal eyes. She looked to be the same age as Scylla. Something about her clicked in Scylla’s mind, but she ignored it. Instead, she felt an urge to become a friend of hers.

“Listen up!” Hollered a trainer that towered above all of them. “I am Tyde Bay, but call me Ty – I prefer it. I shall be training you to fight with several fearsome items of weaponry. If you do wish to compete in the hunger games, then you’ll need the muscle to swing a sword or thrust a spear, let alone lift it.” The girl that Scylla wanted to be friends with scoffed cockily, which led to her receiving a funny look from everybody. “Perfect! I was just about to call somebody up to show their skills off to everybody! And since you seem to believe this is a piece of cake, you can be the first one to demonstrate without training! What is your name, missy?”

“Circe… Topaz!” She replied, slightly pausing between her first and surname. This would usually be suspicious to anybody who was listening, but Scylla paid no attention, and instead watched as Circe clasped her hand around a spear.

“Ah the spear – It is certainly a nice choice! Effective from afar and useful in close combat. With your sassy attitude, you’ll be one of our mightiest foes for sure! Now have a throw with it!” Scylla watched as Circe put all her power into the throwing arm and released it. The result – It planted itself in the middle between the edge and the centre of the target.

“Not bad, not bad at all. With a little bit of practise, you will surely be as accurate as a viper!” He dismissed her to go into the crowd. “Who shall we have next? How about you?” His finger pointed at Scylla, causing her green-blue eyes to twinkle with delight. She was next, and she was confident that she could do even better.

“Who would you be then?”

“Scylla. Scylla Wells.” She looked over the weapons, but stared at them all with boredom. Except for two – The spear and the trident. Since the spear had already been demonstrated by Circe, Scylla grabbed the trident, and held it close.

“Ah, this one’s my personal favourite, due to how classic it is! The trident works much like a spear, only it has a higher chance of striking an enemy. Even if the middle prong missed, then the ones to the sides could still home in onto its target. Since you yourself look pretty tough, I’m sure you’ll be just as deadly as Circe over there!” Scylla looked over to her, and gave a tiny grin. In return, Circe grinned back. But there was slight fury in her eyes. Scylla didn’t care though – She believed that Circe was merely jealous. With that, she held up her trident, and slammed it through the air, until the middle prong was in the middle. Scylla was proud of herself, but she simply nodded in satisfaction to hide the glee that toiled inside of her. The audience were clapping and cheering for her – Even Ty was impressed.

“You know what? That was the best bloomin’ performance from a newbie that I have ever laid eyes on! Scylla will definitely be the victor when she enters the hunger games!” Ty gave the loudest clap out of everybody.

Once the ‘newbies’ had their turns, they were all told to start training with whatever weapon they wanted. Scylla immediately rushed over to the tridents, where she was the only one. Everybody else was at swords, spears and knives. Despite the loneliness, Scylla was glad that she was by herself – Nobody would be annoying her any time soon.

“Excuse me, but I’d like to know how you did it?” Scylla felt somebody tap her shoulder, and spun around to see Circe.

“How did I do what?”

“Plant that trident into the centre – I was simply awestruck by your accuracy.”

“Well, I’d say I’m naturally talented, but I’m not arrogant, and I don’t intend on being so. So it was beginner’s luck, I guess!” The two started giggling, and begun to chat whilst thrusting and slashing their tridents at the targets and dummies. Whilst Scylla rarely missed a shot, Circe slammed her trident into thin air a few times. But she was close to Scylla’s expertise with the weapon.

“So what’s your story Circe?” Scylla asked, slamming her trident into a dummy body.

“Well,” She began, throwing the trident into a dummy head. “I’d say my life has been normal – My parents fish for a living and my sister collects seashells to create necklaces to sell. As for me – I’m training to win the games and get us a bigger house. Even though we have plenty of money, we can never get a big enough house,” She said with a chuckle. “What about you?”

“Umm…” Scylla had already zoned out when Circe mentioned her sister – It was like her family, only more bonded together. And with less heartbreak. “Well, my father recently left the district to become the mayor of district 7. My Uncle is the President of Panem, and he invited father to become the President. But there was a catch – Mother had to stay here for her own reasons. A fight broke out, and me and mother stayed here. But father took… he took my… sister Charybdis with him. The jerk didn’t realize that we shouldn’t have been separated. Now here I am, slowly losing my sanity on a daily basis. But I joined this junior academy in secret to take out my anger on the targets and dummies, and not my mother.” Circe nodded at this, and continued to slash the dummies.

“You know, I’m only 9 years old!” Circe said with a smirk. By the look in Scylla’s eyes, she could tell that Scylla was also 9. The two stared at one another in horror, before laughing.

“We’re both sneaky little foxes, aren’t we?”

“Indeed! Hey, we should be friends!”

“I thought we already were friends!” The two begun to giggle once more, as they continued to dedicate their power into their training. For once in her life, Scylla felt optimistic – She may have lost a close friend, but she had made another one to compensate for it.

Scylla sprinted home later that day, eager to inform Marin the news about Circe. She had already made up an excuse to cover up her lessons at the youth career academy. According to the white lie, she would’ve met her in Sochi’s sushi bar after offering to help her pay for the rest of her meal. Afterwards, the two would’ve had a friendly chat with one another and exchanged some information (Although there would be no mention of the junior career academy for a bucketful of reasons.)

“Mum! I’m back! Boy, do I have news for you! You see, I-“ Scylla had a bewildered look on her face. It perfectly displayed how awkward she felt when she walked in on the scene – Marin and Tetro, both kissing and practically in the nude. Tetro lay on top of Marin, doing… stuff.

(You can see where this is going. And no, none of the details will be revealed)

“ARGH!!! Scylla! You frightened the living daylight out of us!”

“You think that’s bad? I’ve been watching you for the past half a minute, and I can’t get that scene out of my head. You disgust me sometimes!” Before either of the two could explain, Scylla slammed the door behind her as she stormed upstairs into her bedroom. There, she started venting out her bitterness by throwing hard punches at her pillows, cushions and teddies. Everything was getting thrown around. It seemed like nothing could be salvaged from the destruction.

She was just about to throw a Pufferfish toy when she felt herself resisting the urge to. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t bring herself to do so. Mystified, she begun observing the features carefully, trying to pick out what had stopped the violence. Orange with yellow bumps all over the body. Joyful yet lifeless eyes. Inflated like a balloon. Scylla finally released all of the tears that were previously held back by the dam of pride. She clutched the pufferfish to her chest, squeezing it tightly. For it had once belonged to Charybdis. Unfortunately, she only had a few minutes to pack up. In doing so, she must’ve forgotten her childhood toy.

“Charybdis!” She thought. “Why did you leave behind Bubbles?! He was your favourite!” She rocked herself backwards and forwards, wondering how much Charybdis was missing her. “Wait… Maybe she purposefully left Bubbles behind, but why? As a memento of her? But I’d always remember her. Unless…” Scylla begun to tidy everything up in her room, trying to search for the item in question. “Where is she?” But she could not find it. Her own pufferfish toy was now gone. “Maybe Charybdis took Sheldon with her.” Sheldon would’ve stood out from the room due to its fluorescent colours, but it was no longer there. Charybdis had taken her to forever be reminded of Scylla. And for that, Scylla was warmed to the core.

Time passed, and Marin and Tetro were both connected even further. It took a while, but Scylla eventually adjusted to the change. Although she saw Tetro as her father, she called him by his first name. Despite her youth, she still knew Clutch was her biological father. But that wasn’t the only change in her life.

When Scylla and Circe were both 11, they made a third friend. Usually, the two preferred to be in the company of one another only. But in this case they made an exception.

His name was Minos Creetian, and he was one of those people who would be classed as a hunk. Surprisingly, he wasn’t flirty at all. Instead, he was incredibly shy. But when Scylla and Circe started chatting him up, they saw an alternative personality to him – Fun-loving and caring, yet slightly eccentric. For the two of them, it was love at first sight. However, they weren’t aware that the other person also had a crush on him. They didn’t want to damage one another’s feelings. Circe in particular seemed nervous – Scylla could sometimes be pugnacious at the worst of times. ‘She’s got a body like an hourglass; it’s ticking like a clock. It’s a matter of time before we all run out.” Circe would think. Little did she know that it would happen in due time.

One day, the trinity had a walk in a nearby park. There was nothing better for them to do, so they decided to wander with no particular destination.

“Circe… I have something to tell you.”

“Oh, ok.”

“Well, I’m hoping this won’t affect our friendship in any way. But, well, me and Scylla are an item.”

“Really?” Circe asked, genuinely surprised. “Well, I’m very happy for you!” Scylla and Minos smiled, before she leaned in and kissed Minos on the lips. Their passion was almost literally on fire. Scylla might’ve been glad, but Circe was not a happy bunny inside. “Scylla, can I talk to you in private?”

“Sure thing Circe!” Scylla quickly blew a kiss to Minos before fleeing with Circe behind the bushes.

“So, what is it you wanted to talk about? Wait, let me guess… you also had a crush on him?”

“Well, umm. Wait, HOW DID YOU KNOW?!”

“First of all, you didn’t sound that enthusiastic.” Scylla began. “In addition to this, I saw you blush like crazy when he was about to tell you the news. And finally, I’ve seen you drool over him more times than a dog does with a bone. But I’m sorry I didn’t tell-“

“Enough.” Circe muttered.

“Pardon?”

“ENOUGH!” Circe’s eyes twitched with rage, madness emitting from her body. “I’ve had it up to here with your happy business!”

“But Circe… what do you mean?” Scylla begun to feel the nerves take over her body. With a disappointed sigh, Circe shook her head.

“You really have no idea, do you?”

“If I did, I wouldn’t be asking.”

“Scylla… I’m not supposed to be your friend. All these years, I’ve been pretending to like you. But I’ve been spying on you.” For Scylla, it was easy to figure out what she meant.

“Wait… you’re saying that Topaz isn’t your surname? That means you’re one of the bloody-“

“Bloody what? Oh right, I forgot!” Circe smirked at Scylla. “You’re a Wells. Of course! Well say hello to your new frenemy, Circe Wildor!” It would be difficult to know what angered Scylla more – The fact that Circe chose to ruin an otherwise perfect occasion, or the fact that she was part of the Wildors.

“You… you stupid conniving b*tch!!!”

“Hey! It’s not nice to swear like that!” Scylla only became more ticked off.

“You know what?!” Scylla begun her ranting rampage. “ I declare a war between us! Wells and Wildor can never cooperate with one another! Particularly not in cases where one has been faking a non-existent friendship for their own bloody advantages!!!”

“You’re on!” Circe spat back. And with that, they parted in different directions.

Nearly every second in Scylla’s world involved Circe. She would always be plotting a way to bring her down a peg. In conversations, she would state her hatred for Circe and how she wished she would meet a grisly demise. Marin warned her that wishing death upon somebody was a sign of bad morality, but Scylla shrugged it off. Being strongly independent, she believed that the only opinions that mattered were hers. The only person who could tell her what to do was herself. No exceptions.

One bright sunny day, Scylla made the decision to strike first. She was concerned because there had been no sign of Circe for a while. The last time she saw her was when the two declared a war on one another. It made Scylla speculate that Circe was also plotting a way to get back at her, so she remained vigilant when she visited her house.

The first step in her plan was to peep through the windows. After all, how hard would it be to get away with a plan when the victim spots it? Scylla did have a deep thirst for becoming the alpha between the two, but she was aware of the risks and hazards.

After checking the windows, Scylla was confident that the Wildors were out somewhere in the city. With a smirk on her face, she grabbed the next ingredient in her recipe for misery – toilet paper. She tied one end around one of the trees in the front garden. Next, she entwined it around the bark before wrapping it around the tree parallel to it. So far, the great toilet paper escapade came off to a great start. In a matter of minutes, the whole mansion was one unrecognisable pile of toilet paper. There was one last thing Scylla had to do; write a warning.

She took out a paintbrush, some red paint and a signboard. Despite being kitted out, she was stumped as to what the message should be. Nothing crossed her mind. She pictured the Wildors returning home and seeing her stood there foolishly. In the end, she just went with the first (and only) thing in her head. The words were painted onto the sign before it was hung on the front door. Scylla was content with the message and fled the area. It said as follows: ‘I’m in the business of misery’.

Halfway home, Scylla decided to celebrate by having some fugu at Sochi’s sushi bar.

Whilst she was enjoying her fugu, a scrunched-up piece of paper flew through the air and landed at her feet. At first she took no notice. But when she had just finished eating her fugu, an employee pointed down at her feet.

“Is that yours?” He asked.

“Hmm. Hang on, let me see.” Scylla picked it up, assuming that her plan blueprint had fallen out of her pocket. But it wasn’t that.

Scylla, I sure hope you are god damn reading this.

Here’s the thing – Minos should be mine. But you seem like the person who won’t give anything up, not even if it meant losing someone or something dear to you. Here’s the deal – You dump Minos in 1 year from now, and I won’t heavily wound him. He’ll suffer some damage on his cranium, and it should be enough to give him amnesia. It would be easy to manipulate him them. I can trick him into thinking I’m his smart and sexy lover. And I can make you his long-time enemy.

Think long and hard about this decision – His fate lies in your hands.

Yours hatefully, Circe.

“Oh, I didn’t notice. Thank you!” Whilst Scylla smiled on the outside, she was fuming on the inside – She was furious that Circe would make threats to target one of her few loved ones. Although the blackmail wasn’t favourable, there were still a few rays of sunshine in Circe’s threat – First of all, Charybdis wasn’t the one being threatened. Second, Scylla had a year to decide what to do. Finally, she could show Minos the note to show he couldn’t trust Circe.

Nothing exciting happened for 8 months. Unsurprisingly, Scylla and Circe were still at their war. Many pranks were played and the odd case of vandalism occurred, but that was all Scylla and Circe did to one another. No verbal abuse, no rough fighting. It was the same old routine, until that one fateful day. The day where Scylla finally decided whether or not to give up Minos.

“Minos, we need to talk. Come.” Scylla led Minos to a beach, where the two sat down on the gentle sand.

“What is it Scylla?” Scylla said nothing. With a sullen look on her face, she handed him a creased piece of paper. It was the same piece of paper that had the threat inked on it. Throughout him reading it out loud, Scylla started to cringe. ‘Will I make the right choice? Will Minos ever forgive me?’ She zoned out of reality into a different world where it was just her, Minos and Charybdis. They were all eating sushi and swimming out of the shore. They came across some dolphins and started laughing with joy. She didn’t realise Minos had finished reading until he shook her by her shoulders.

“Does this mean that we’re-“

“No longer a thing? Yes. I’m sorry, but some things must end for another cause.” Minos smiled.

“Still friends?” He asked. Scylla was briefly hesitant, but she already knew her answer. She just wanted to make sure she wasn’t rushing headstrong into what could be the wrong choice.

“Yes. Still friends!” The two hugged each other before they departed to their homes.

It was discovered that not long after Scylla’s breakup with Minos, he was going out with Circe. She deduced that he either didn’t believe the note was from Circe, he never liked her, or Circe manipulated him. Scylla believed that the third theory was the most likely one. Her veins filled with more anger, but her mind remained calm. She knew that she couldn’t think clearly when she was furious. And she had to think about her next course of action. The war between her and Circe was her main priority. But soon there would be another thing she would have to be good with.

It wasn’t long before she entered the main academy. She still kept her lie on being a year older than she actually was, so she wouldn’t have to leave. To her, this academy was of the highest quality. There was a massive variety of weapons to train with (even ones that were unheard of), there were several trainers to match a student’s favourite kind of teacher, and Circe wasn’t in sight. Basically, it was Scylla’s paradise minus Minos and Charybdis. Alas, it was not meant to be peaceful for her.

Scylla turned up one day only to hear a familiar voice. It came from the girl’s toilet rooms, so she furtively entered. This time, the whispers were more audible.

I waited eight long months, she finally set him free. It was worth it though – He’s now my lover to the grave.” Scylla felt like she was going to throw up on the spot – Now she was in the same vicinity as her friend turned enemy – Circe.

“What happened then?” Asked another feminine voice, probably one of Circe’s friends.

“Well, I told him I couldn’t lie; he was the only one for me. Then two weeks, and we caught on fire. Now I can’t wait until that b*tch gets her comeuppance.”

“I thought it wasn’t nice to swear Circe.” Scylla revealed herself. “Remember that conversation we had when we were friends? And I called you the same thing? Can you remember your response?” Circe and her band of friends stopped and gawked at her. “Oh, where are my manners? Girls, I’m the… female dog she was talking about. Scylla Wells.”

“You… you b*tch – You have the nerve to invite yourself to this academy? Well I was here first, for a week.”

“I’ve been here 1 month. And let me just say that you need to polish your research skills. But that conversation was quite accurate.”

“Oh, you say my research skills are good and bad at the same time? There’s the evidence that you’re a hypocrite.”

“Says the one who said swearing isn’t nice. Weren’t you paying attention when I said it just before I showed up? How despicable of you to not listen to your ex-friend.”

“Ugh, whatever. Girls, decide who you want to side with – Wells vs Wildor battles can get tough. Remain neutral, and that’s just you being a p*ssy. It’s either me or her. Once you’re on one side, there’s no turning back.” Of the seven of them, only 2 sided with Scylla.

“Thank you, the two of you.” Scylla politely nodded her head.

“Scylla honey, there’s no need to be polite when you’ve proven yourself to be a villain.”

“Pfft. Villain. Dream on. Remember how our feud began? You kept a secret from me and couldn’t hide it up. Not forgetting the fact that you lied about your surname. If anything, you’re the villain in all this.” One of the girls on Circe’s side silently slid over to Scylla, who smirked. “See? Even your own buddies are abandoning you.”

“Say what? I don’t know of- Oh well done Scylla – You gained an ally yet you still have less than me. I still have the support.”

“But do your allies support you a lot, or are they trying to avoid that temper of yours? Are they being honest, or are they trying to stop themselves being pummelled by you? Don’t intimidate them – The Queen bee will be the one whose support grows stronger.” At the end of Scylla’s miniature speech, all but one of Circe’s ‘friends’ had sided with Scylla.

“Grr… Scylla, your persistence won’t do you well. Your flat backside will be kicked to a faraway land known as hell.”

“Bring it on.”

“Oh I will. But I need some time. For now, just enjoy the company of your buddies – You won’t live to regret the day you crossed me.” Circe and her buddy strolled nonchalantly out of the academy, not bothering with the fact that several wannabe-careers tried to persuade them to stay. Scylla scoffed, but secretly felt worried. ‘You won’t live to regret the day you crossed me.’ It lingered inside of her mind and attached itself there like a leech.

“Scylla, Circe dropped this. I think you should read it.” One of Scylla’s friends handed her a slip, her face deathly pale. Shakily, Scylla read it aloud.

Scylla, listen (or read in this case)

I want this all to end. This feud shall meet its end tonight. That is, if you dare enter this academy at dusk.

Hope to see you there, Circe. X

Scylla was astounded by what it read – She skimmed it over and over again. “It could actually end! But… how? Does she mean she wants a truce, or does she want to just murder me?” Scylla was stumped as to what she should do.

“Don’t trust her. Something seems off.” One of the girls placed her hand on Scylla’s shoulder. “Think about it – You won’t live to regret the day you crossed me. She wants to end it all by killing you. And you’ll cross paths in the academy.”

“I know that. But I’m going to risk it, turn the tables on her. She won’t know what hit her, as her cranium’s thicker than chunky pea soup. Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine.” Then Scylla started to practise her training in the academy, mulling over what her course of action should be.

Hours passed. Darkness draped over the city like a set of curtains. Everything was deathly silent. It was incredibly eerie – The perfect atmosphere for the event that would supposedly end the Wells vs Wildor feud in District 4. Partially because it could make anybody go insane, but mostly because Circe’s plan of action to end this was unpredictable.

Scylla silently ran over to the academy. It loomed over her like a monster in a nightmare, causing a whimper to break out.

“Hush Melpomene. You don’t want to reveal our presence here, do you?” Her friend shook her head. Scylla shook her head in disapproval before positioning herself below one of the windows. It was quite high, and it would take some climbing to reach it. However, Scylla wasn’t that good at climbing. She required a boost to get up there, which was why Melpomene was with her. Even though she wouldn’t be boosted high enough to reach it, she believed that she could climb part of the way.

“Ready Scylla?”

“Ready!” Scylla took a few deep breaths before being lifted into the sky. She grabbed onto the railings of a different window, and lifted herself over. ‘Only a few feet under – Not bad.’ She thought to herself. ‘Now I just have to climb, and everything will be alright.’ Despite struggling and nearly falling down, Scylla eventually reached the window she wanted to enter. From there, she looked down into the academy.

None of the equipment was out, and the stations weren’t set it. It looked just like a metallic giant rabbit warren. And in the middle of it was Circe. Scylla hid her secret weapon in the pocket of her jeans. Then she kicked the glass, shattering it everywhere. Clumsily, she dropped to the ground from 6 10 feet. Scylla was lucky that she didn’t hit the ground too hard, but pain still seared through her system. She lay there for a few seconds, waiting for the pain to flush out of her system. Once it did, she scrambled to her feet and casually strolled over to Circe.

“Hey.”

“Hey.” A period of awkward silence soon followed. Neither of them spoke for a few minutes until Circe piped up.

“You already know why I dragged you here. I just wanted to say that I ‘m sorry for all the wrongs I’ve done. No other members of my family supported the idea, but I thought that the two of us forgiving another would be a start to end the rivalry between our clans. So what do you say? Shall we offer each other a second chance?” As Circe offered her hand, Scylla stared at it completely bewildered. She thought it would be a trap, yet Circe seemed to be in a peaceful mood. A funny feeling entered Scylla’s gut. And it was what she relied on for what her response was.

“Second chances, they don’t ever matter. People never change.” Scylla stared into Circe’s eyes.

“Scylla,” Her mouth hung open in shock. “What do you mean?”

“This war will continue. Besides, you can’t even fake a plan at all. You were plotting to use this situation to your advantage. As I always suspected – Once a wh*re, you’re nothing more. I’m sorry, that’ll never change. And about forgiveness, we’re supposed to have exchanged it now. And yet you’re stood here, trying to lure me to my death. I’m not falling for it.” Scylla maintained her gaze as she stepped forwards. Circe smirked.

“Maybe not. But you’ll fall into it!”

“Say what now?” Scylla tried to step back, but it was too late – Her foot was caught in a snare, and now she hung upside-down. “Ok, I admit I didn’t see this coming. But just this trap. I was expecting something more epic like an inferno or an-“She gritted her teeth as Circe punched her in the mouth.

“Shut up, b*tch. You’ll get the inferno you expected, I promise. And there’ll be an explosion to assist as well. I thought you’d want an exciting death.”

“I do want an exciting death. But it isn’t my birthday yet. And I intend to die in the hunger games.” The once wicked light in Circe’s eyes dwindled to nothing.

“Did you say the Hunger games?” Scylla nodded.

“Yes. Did you not hear me? Or maybe you lost your sense of hearing after I kicked you so hard you heard your bones rattling.”

“But you did-“Circe was cut off as Scylla swung her foot into Circe’s forehead. Whilst she groggily scrambled to her feet, Scylla took out her secret weapon that she had – A knife. She started to cut the bonds that imprisoned her, and plonked to the ground. She flung herself to her feet only to see Circe sprinting in with a knife of her own. Thinking on instinct, Scylla dove to the side.

“Those janitors sure are a pain in the ass, eh?”

“Agreed. But that’s the only thing I’ll agree with you on.”

“Serious?”

“Serious. Literally.”

“Thank you for admitting that I was the best one out of us two – I was about to ask if the statement that you were more awesome than me would count. No need to say you’re welcome though.”

“Just shut the hell up!” Circe and Scylla flung their knives at one another at the same time. Scylla’s knife landed on her target – But it was lodged into her shoulder. Circe’s knife on the other hand dug into Scylla’s knee. They both shrieked like banshees in agony. One could fight better, but the other could flee if needed.

“This looks like a fair fight. Now park your lazy backside here. I’ll be happy as a pig in muck when you start squealing like a stuck pig.”

“Same to you. Except I’ll come over, since your bacon is as good as roasted.” After yelling her battle cry, Circe sprinted towards Scylla, who swiftly grabbed the knife that was in her kneecap. There came the sound of metal clashing against one another. Every time Circe made a move, she winced in pain from her shoulder wound. Scylla could easily take the opportunities to land a blow, yet she’d flinch when she put pressure on her knees.

It wasn’t long before cuts and bruises marred their bodies. Several drips of blood splattered onto the floor. The two were exhausted, yet they never stopped fighting. Scylla, who had been doing well in the early stages of the battle, was now losing out to the comeback kid, Circe. In the end, Scylla was kicked to the other end of the room. Circe snorted at her status.

“What a pity. I was expecting more of a fight from you. Sure, I gained as many scars as you, but I see them as tokens of victory. You see them as marks of weakness. The optimistic ones win out in the end. I sure hope you’ve learned your lesson. Oh, and I also hope you like playing with fire!” As Circe cackled with glee, two of the windows smashed open. Scylla used up some of her remaining energy to lean over and see who it was. And she nearly used the rest of it up to splutter in disbelief. Minos and another boy she didn’t know gracefully jumped inside, gawking at the sight.

“Minos! Umm, I didn’t know you were here. Help me my love, for Scylla tried to kill me.”

“I’m not your love.”

“Say what?!” Circe started screaming hysterically. “But, but we were going out! We were dating, for heaven’s sakes! What the hell has gone into your mind?”

“Allow me to explain,” The mystery boy said. “I’m Angus. And whilst the two of you dated him and drooled over him, we’ve been meeting up in secret.”

“To gossip over us?” Scylla started to shuffle towards them, groaning as she did so.” The two boys shook their heads sympathetically.

“No. The thing is I wanted to tell you, but I didn’t want to tell you. I’ll tell you why as soon as I find out what the heck the two of you have been doing!” Neither of them spoke. But Scylla did toss him a scrunched-up note. The one that said about Circe wanting the two to meet up. As he read over it, disbelief seemed to flood his system. Angus started patting him on the back. And that was when Circe and Scylla started to cringe in horror at what happened – Minos and Angus leaned in and their lips met one another. Circe started mouthing something to Scylla, but she didn’t see. For she was busy staring at the scene.

“Minos, you’re a bisexual?”

“No. I’m actually gay. I never loved either of you two in the first place.” Circe’s nostrils flared like a bull.

“Why the hell did you agree to go out with us then?! Huh?!”

“Because,” He began. “Because I wanted to test whether I was bisexual or homosexual. I tried to see what I felt for Scylla, but there was nothing. I tried with you, and I still felt nothing. But with Angus, he’s captured my heart. Only he can let it go, and I highly doubt he will!” That was the last straw for Circe.

“You know what?! I’ve had enough with the lot of you! Minos, for getting it on with some lad I don’t know! You were supposed to be mine, and yet you betray me! Not only by cheating on me, but by now forcing me to say what I have to say! I’m homophobic!” Scylla barely had time to process it before Circe continued her rant. “Anus or whatever your name is, you stole the heart of Minos! He stole mine, yet he gives his to you! Absolutely shameful!” Scylla started panting heavily as Circe continued. “Scylla, you’re the worst of us all here! Had I never encountered you in my life, none of this would ever have happened! We wouldn’t have fought over Minos! We would never have had to vandalise one another’s houses! And most of all, I wouldn’t have to hear you b*tch about your stupid silly sister!” At the mere mention of Charybdis, Scylla started to growl heavily. Angus and Minos glanced at one another, holding one another’s hand for comfort. For Scylla’s mental bomb was about to detonate.

“Don’t. You. Dare. Talk about Charybdis like that! She’s the only one who kept me stable! Every goddamn second, I’ve mourned over how she had to leave! You don’t understand how important my sister was to me! You never will, since you most likely kill your siblings for your own personal glory! You know what?! This little lamb needs to be silenced! And her tongue needs to be cut off so she doesn’t  invoke my wrath out on her!” Scylla used her newfound might to bring herself up. She started to charge towards Circe, who quickly lit a match. Before Scylla could see what she was doing, Circe dropped it into a pool of liquid. Gasoline. It dispersed across the academy, encircling the quartet together.

“Circe, Scylla, Minos. If we continue this goddamn dispute, we’re all going to become roasting fireballs! Please, we need to settle all the tension down and work together to survive!” Circe and Scylla stared down one another, showing that they would rather go down in a fight. In the aftermath that occurred a few moments after, the two nodded. They knew that they had to do what it took to survive, even if it meant going against their vows.

“As much as I hate to say it…” Circe begun.

“You’re right,” Scylla continued to speak. “We will work together, but only this once. Afterwards, the feud shall continue.”

“Fine, I guess.” Minos muttered. “But that aside, we should really be searching for an exit.” They all scanned the area around them. Nothing could be seen that could’ve been of use to them. Angus and Minos both lost hope almost immediately, but Circe and Scylla kept searching. They still didn’t lose hope, even when the fire started to grow taller. And that was a good thing; otherwise they wouldn’t have noticed the rope dangling above them.

“Guys! We can escape up here!” Scylla and Circe started dancing in delight, but Angus and Minos still looked grim.

“One of us is going to have to be left behind.” Angus sighed. “You could reach the rope if you stood one someone’s shoulders, but not by jumping.” They each exchanged glances. Deep down, they all wanted to survive. But there was that one person they wanted to live over them.

“I’ll stay behind.” Minos sighed. “I’m the one who started this mess in the first place.”

“No!” Scylla shrieked. “I must sacrifice myself – If I never had come here, we wouldn’t be in this mess.”

“You know,” Angus began. “I set off Circe, who set off this fire. I’ll remain here and pray for your safety.”

“Stop the moping everyone!” Circe fiercely said. “If I had avoided Scylla, then we would never be in this sticky situation. Minos, I wouldn’t have made you uncomfortable. Angus, I wouldn’t be here freaking out over that kiss. And most of all, Scylla. I wouldn’t have lied to you about being a Wildor. I wouldn’t have grappled with you, or nearly killed you. Therefore, the one who started all this must die. And that is of course me.” Everybody exchanged uneasy looks, until Scylla lifted Angus onto her shoulders.

“Scylla! You don’t deserve to die! Angus kept protesting strongly by banging his fists against Scylla’s back, but she growled at him. He immediately gulped and clambered onto Scylla’s shoulders before ascending the escape route. Minos half-heartedly followed afterwards. Now it was just the two truced rivals.

“Circe, come on.” Scylla started pleading to her with her eyes, but Circe shook her head.

“Scylla, before I go. I want you to know that… I’m sorry for dragging you into this predicament. It’s just that my family members threatened to kill me if I ever trusted you again. But you never seemed to give up on the hope that we could reconcile. Can I have forgiveness?” The answer was obvious to Scylla.

“Yes. You can have forgiveness.” The two smiled and shook hands.

“Thank you. And in return…” Circe used her strength to throw Scylla upwards. She started to scream in shock before clasping tightly onto the rope.

“Circe! This isn’t what was supposed to happen!” Scylla looked down at her friend. “Please tell me this isn’t what you had planned!”

“Scylla, just calm the heck down. I’m sorry honey, but I passed it up. My life I mean,” Scylla couldn’t bring herself to stare into Circe’s eyes. “Now look this way – I have something to tell you!” Scylla started sniffing, but she did so. “Scylla… you were, have been and always will be the best friend I had. And rival. All of those pranks were fun. But no matter what, I want you to remember me, just like you do with Charybdis. Hopefully, the two of you will see each other. And we’ll see each other after death.” That broke Scylla’s heart – She started to bawl again, still clinging tightly to the rope.

“Yes… we’ll see each other soon.” Scylla started to swing from the rope over the inferno. There, Angus and Minos started to babble in confusion. But they all fled the building, just as an explosion rang out.

Everything was blurred. Nothing could be made out of the multiple shapes. Yet she knew where she was and what had happened. Scylla clumsily flung herself to her feet, almost toppling over.

“Scylla!” Scylla could hear one of the boys talking to her, but she couldn’t hear much of what they were saying. She looked at the confusedly, until her vision returned again. Minos had been the one trying to communicate, whilst Angus lay face-down on the floor, not moving at all. Not a single breath could be heard from him.

“Angus! Is he-“

“I’m afraid so.” Scylla almost cried when she said those three words. Two of her friends had died in that explosion. One who she barely knew, and the other one who had a confusing relationship with her. ‘Circe… I guess I was right when I said that second chances never matter, but any chances after that do.’  Scylla once more felt her heart drop. ‘I just lost my best friend. I never thought that I’d lose anyone as close as Charybdis. But not Circe...’ Scylla could barely hold in her tokens of sadness. But when she looked into a nearby pond, she saw her lips trembling. For once, she felt vulnerable in her life. Like anyone could easily strike at her and she wouldn’t be able to fight back. Her tears splattered into the pond, distorting Scylla’s reflection. No longer did Scylla’s reflection appear, but it was a merge of two people – Charybdis and Circe. She reached out to them. They reached out back to her. They smiled. Scylla smiled back. But then it all warped again, showing Scylla’s teary smile. It instantly shrivelled into a frown. The puddle was messing with her. And Scylla despised it. Before she knew it, she was running and crying off home. She didn’t even speak to Marin or Tetro as she stormed in – She just headed straight to her humble asylum – Her bedroom.

Nothing eventful happened after the events, until it was Scylla’s 2nd reaping. She knew that she would never be reunited with her two closest friends, so she decided to volunteer, as the games seemed like her last bet to make the most of her life. Marin and Tetro had no idea what day it was, so Scylla could sneak off and flee to the games in her newfound joy.

About halfway through the journey, Scylla was jumped by three men wearing black masks. They all brandished their weapons, which scared Scylla slightly. She was a defenceless lamb again, destined to die before she could live. She closed her eyes to embrace her imminent death.

It didn’t come.

Scylla carefully opened one eye to see all the muggers dead and bleeding heavily on the floor. A cloaked figure stood in their place, their hooded covering most of their face. Despite the disguise, Scylla had a deep inkling on who it was.

“Is that…” The hood was removed. “Oh my god! Circe! How the hell did you survive?! I nearly went insane without you!” The two started to squeal and hug each other.

“Long story short – I fell under a coma due to the explosion. However, I apparently died. However, the doctors had my memories displayed on a screen. My parents paid the doctors to revive me with my memories, and here I am. Science is so strange nowadays… but without it, I couldn’t have possibly seen you again!”

“Hehe! Glad to see you again!” After one last hug, the two friends entered the reaping square. Scylla no longer felt the need to volunteer. But her mind would soon change.

“Circe Wildor!” Scylla didn’t know what to feel. What to say. What to do. Circe started to make an odd gagging sound through her throat. AS she started to walk up to the stage, Scylla felt a bad pit in her stomach. ‘I can’t lose her after being reunited with her!’ Instinctively, Scylla raised her hand. “I volunteer as tribute!” Circe looked back and almost started to scream in shock.

“Scylla, you can’t!”

“I’ve already lost you once – I’m not losing you again.” The escort handed Scylla the microphone.

“Scylla Wells. And I know you don’t usually associate Wells and Wildors as friends, but trust me when I say that there can be those odd ones out on either side of either family! She’s saved me multiple times… now I’m saving her.”

Optional - Backstory Summary[]

Scylla, along with her twin Charybdis, were born to Marin and Clutch Wells. The two were your typical siblings – One moment they would be best friends, the next they would be bitter rivals. Despite this, they still loved each other.

However, Clutch was offered a job as mayor of D7. He accepted, but Marin had to stay in district 4. Mindlessly, Clutch divorced Marin and left the district with Charybdis. Bad idea.

Scylla was deeply upset, so Marin took her to Sochi’s Sushi Bar, as Scylla loved sushi. But there, Marin came into contact with an old friend – Tetro. Scylla only became more mad, since everybody there seemed so… happy.

In secret, she enrolled at a junior academy. However, she was 1 year below what the law said. Nonetheless, she still entered. She was made to display her skills after a girl named Circe did. She managed to land a trident into the centre. That was what bonded her and Circe together. Even though she still missed Charybdis, she thoroughly enjoyed her time with Circe.

When the two were 11, the two made friends with and crushed on Minos. Scylla and Minos ended up going out, which was when Circe revealed in private that she was actually a Wildor. In rage, the two declared war against one another. In this war, they continuously played pranks on one another and vandalised their property.

Scylla was later blackmailed by Circe into ending her relationship with Minos. 8 months later, Scylla did as she said. Circe and Minos both became an item later on.

Not long afterwards, Circe left a note to Scylla saying to meet with her at the academy. That was where their feud would end. Scylla was reluctant in case it was a trap, but she went there in the end.

At the academy, a massive fight between them broke out. Scylla and Circe were both badly wounded, but the latter came out as top dog in the end. That was when Minos and another boy came in. Circe tried to explain, but Minos confessed something else – He was gay. After hearing that he never loved her or Scylla, Circe went into a rage, mentioning Charybdis. Anger boiled inside of Scylla as she gained the strength to stand up and tackle Circe. But she dropped a match, igniting a circular inferno around them. They were brought together to set aside their differences and to rescue everyone. Circe offered to sacrifice herself, but Scylla saved Minos and the boy, Angus. Just as she was about to save Circe, she ended up swapping roles with Circe. The rescued trio had escaped the academy just as it exploded. Angus didn’t survive, Circe most likely didn’t survive and Scylla started to regret announcing the feud.

Scylla’s 2nd reaping came, and she wanted to volunteer as’ there was no one left she loved’. But halfway there, she found Circe alive. Apparently, she had died. But then she was revived with all of her memories intact. They went to the reapings together, where Circe was reaped. But Scylla volunteered in her place. When the escort asked who she was, she replied with this –

“Scylla Wells. And I know you don’t usually associate Wells and Wildors as friends, but trust me when I say that there can be those odd ones out on either side of either family! She’s saved me multiple times… now I’m saving her.”

Inspiration[]

Song inspiration: Misery Business - Paramore

'I'm in the business of misery, let's take it from the top' - Could describe how Scylla and Circe started to try and make one another miserable. It could also be an incarnation of how Scylla seems to fall prey to sadness.

'She's got a body like an hourglass - It's ticking like a clock. It's a matter of time before we all run out' - It's only a matter of time before Scylla goes loco.

'When I thought he was mine, she caught him by the mouth' - Scylla 'captured' Minos's heart at the moment Circe thought she had him in the bag.

'I waited eight long months, she finally set him free. I told him I couldn't lie - he was the only one for me. Two weeks and we caught on fire.' - Circe confessing her feelings to Minos.

'She's got it out for me, but I wear the biggest smile' - The two believe they're having more fun than their rival when it came to pulling pranks.

'Woah I never meant to brag, but I got him where I want him now' - Circe taking her role as Minos's lover

'Woah it was never my intention to brag, to steal him away from you now' - Scylla never knew she was stealing Minos away from Circe, and never meant to brag in her face.

'Second chances they don't never matter, people never change' - Self explanatory

'Once a wh*re, you're nothing more. I'm sorry, but that'll never change.' Scylla talking to Circe on the above point (As rivals.)

Scylla's backstory was also heavily inspired by the tale from Greek myth. It was said that Circe transformed Scylla into a monster because King Minos had affections for Scylla rather than her. This was what inspired how Circe unleashed Scylla's inner demons.

Victory[]

Summer Salmon/YourfavoriteSalmon's The Drowning Games

Kills: Valentina Parr

Killed By: N/A (Though she did have a close call with Valentina)

Notes: Scylla was entered into these games alongside Siggy. On the first day, she gained no supplies but ended up allying with Siggy after being caught in a trap.

The next day, they discovered an island complete with hallocogenic fog. Nothing much happened afterwards until several tributes came together to try and destroy the demon on day 4. Later, Scylla got in a fight with Valentina but was killed. She however managed to drown her killer.

In the epilogue, it was revealed her pulse started back up. She was brought into the President's room and has to act like she's the victor.
